Dr. Ingram currently serves as the President of the Virginia Association of Hematology Oncology (VAHO) and on the Board of Directors of the Community Oncology Alliance.

Dr. Richard Ingram grew up in Upstate New York and attended Hartwick College. He attended medical school at State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Syracuse followed by his internal medicine internship and chief medical residency in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Ingram completed oncology and hematology fellowships at the University of Virginia and joined Shenandoah Oncology Associates in 2002. He has been in a community-based independent practice since first serving patients in the Northern Shenandoah Valley and surrounding communities in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.

Charles Maurer, MD

Charles Maurer, MD, is highly regarded for his compassion and interaction with his patients. His philosophy in treating his patients is rooted in the importance of communication. He is board certified in medical oncology, and hematology. In addition he serves as the Mary Washington Cancer Committee Chairman and director of the Mary Washington Oncology Executive Committee.

Dr. Maurer received his MD from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in New York, and completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.

Ricky Newton, CPA, is the director for Cancer Specialists of Tidewater, Ltd., and has been on the board of the Community Oncology Alliance since its inception in 2002, currently serving as its director of financial services and operations. Ricky has more than 28 years of experience in the healthcare industry; he is the creator and manager of the community oncology pharmacy association and the COAnalyzer benchmarking software for COA. 

Ricky has presented and consulted at over 350 conferences and practices in 46 states on topics such as financial and practice management issues in medical practices, healthcare law, relationships between oncologists and hospitals, employee management, and compensation models. Ricky serves as treasurer of Oncology Managers and the National Oncology Society Network.

Magi Khalil, MD, PhD

Dr. Khalil earned both a medical degree and a doctorate in immunology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in 2001. She completed an internal medicine residency in 2004 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, remaining there to complete fellowship training in hematology and oncology in 2007. Dr. Khalil is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in medical oncology and hematology.

Driven by a strong interest in the scientific progress of medical oncology and hematology, particularly relating to immunology, Dr. Khalil is grateful for the chance to bring new therapies to patients. This passion led her to pursue a combined M.D./Ph.D. program, and was further developed during her fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, where she helped initiate a solid tumor immunotherapy program. Prior to joining Riverside, Dr. Khalil developed a special expertise in thoracic oncology and melanoma disease management as an attending physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Nathan Langer, MD

Nathan Langer, MD, is a board-certified hematology oncologist with three years of post-fellowship experience. Dr. Langer is dedicated to providing his patients with compassionate care using a patient-centered approach to medicine. He offers his patients long-term care plans that ensure stability in what can often be a tumultuous time.

Dr. Langer received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and became an internal medicine resident at the Cleveland Medical Center shortly thereafter. He spent many years at the Cleveland Medical Center as a resident, hospitalist, and then a fellow. He later joined the staff at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, Virginia, as a hematology oncologist. He has a special clinical interest in benign hematology. Dr. Langer’s varied experiences in practice and research make him uniquely equipped to provide his patients with a well-rounded, longitudinal care plan tailored to their needs.

Erin Marler is a double board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in oncology, hematology, chemotherapy/immunotherapy education and health promotion education. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing, family nurse practitioner, from Walden University. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Erin chose oncology because the specialty has always been close to her heart. She has a passion for providing care to those affected by cancer and her philosophy is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care utilizing evidence-based practices. Erin believes that supporting patients and their loved ones is essential to navigating their individual journeys.

Amy K. Skorupa, MD

Amy K. Skorupa, MD, earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and completed an internal medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she remained to complete fellowship training in hematology and oncology. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and the subspecialties of hematology and medical oncology.

A skilled, compassionate oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Skorupa chose her medical specialties because of the close relationships she is able to develop with patients due to the frequency of care needed. With honesty as one of her most prominent core values, she is committed to giving her patients the care and concern they deserve. Her medical practice is also based on the philosophy that a team approach is the best way to care for a patient.

Aisha Zaidi, MD
Medical Oncologist

Aisha Zaidi, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Pakistan, after which she completed an internal medicine residency and a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Louisville. She is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

With expertise in blood-related disorders, breast cancer, and treatment for a wide spectrum of other cancer types, Dr. Zaidi believes in providing individualized care. She has been published in nationally recognized medical journals and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. She is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
